A three-dimensional lumbar vertebra pendant based on the anatomy of the lower spine. Hand carved by us and cast in lead-free pewter, the piece keeps the distinctive proportions and structure of a lumbar vertebra.
The Design
The lumbar vertebrae are built for support, with broad bodies and strong processes that create an especially architectural shape. We wanted those structural qualities to remain visible in the pendant.
Made by Us, From Sculpture to Finish
The original sculpture is hand carved by us in our Swedish workshop. We make the mold, cast the pendant in lead-free pewter, and finish each one by hand. The surface is oxidized to bring out the anatomical depth, then filed and polished.
