A three-dimensional pendant based on the human first rib, the uppermost rib in the rib cage, sculpted by us by hand and cast in lead-free pewter.
The Design
The first rib is the shortest and most strongly curved of the upper ribs, forming a broad arch at the top of the ribcage. We focused on preserving that compact, curved anatomy and the changing thickness along the bone in the pendant.
Made by Us, From Sculpture to Finish
The original design is sculpted by us by hand in our Swedish workshop. We cast the piece in lead-free pewter and finish it by hand. The surface is oxidized to bring out the details, then polished by hand.
